The Wolfard Copper Light - Instructions

Congratulations on becoming the owner of a new Copper Light from Wolfard Glassblowing Company. Your new lighted sculpture was designed and individually handcrafted in Nothern California's Wine Country by our own Wolfard artisans to give you years of pleasure; in fact, with just a little care, your Copper Light can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Filling & Adjusting
First: place each of the two glass oil reservoirs in the sculpture's reservoir holders, making sure that they're level and well seated.*
Second: carefully pour Wolfard Lamp Oil (or other high quality lamp oil**) through the included Filler spout Cap and into the reservoir (make sure not to fill the lamp more than 3/4 full -- otherwise, oil may overflow and spill when the wickholders are inserted).

Third: put glass wickholder (with cotton wick) into place. Check that the wick does not protrude beyond the top lip of the wickholder, or the lamp may smoke. After lighting, watch the flames for several minutes to make sure they do not smoke. Should smoking occur after lighting, extinguish flame, allow glass wickholder to cool, then adjust wick downward.

Care
Because each sculpture's patina is individually applied, every single Copper Light's finish is unique. Because it's made of copper, your lighted
sculpture's finish will be ever-changing over the years. Possibly even displaying some of the rich palette of subtly changing green hues unique to objects made of this ancient and handsome metal.
To keep the finish bright, avoid frequent and unnecessary handling. Periodic applications of any high quality paste wax, applied with a soft, dry cloth, will make your Copper Light's patina shine like new. (Please avoid the use of any abrasive cleaners or metal polishes that could mar or destroy the finish.)
Your Copper Light was designed with the oil reservoirs set off to either side of center. This was done not only for esthetics but for safety as well. If the flames are directly under the arms above, the lamp will become quite hot to the touch. Of course, bending or twisting any of the copper elements may cause the structure to weaken or even break.
Finally, the oil reservoirs can be cleaned either with warm water -- or even in the dishwasher - as long as they're securely positioned to keep them from hitting (or being hit by) other items, causing them to break.

* Please be sure to only use the reservoirs that came with your Copper Light, other reservoirs (even from other Wolfard products) may look the same, but they will not seat properly and thus may be dangerous.

**CAUTION: ONLY USE FUEL SPECIFICALLY INTENDED FOR USE IN OIL LAMPS. USE OF KEREOSENE, GASOLINE OR OTHER FLAMABLE LIQUIDS IS DANGEROUS. KEEP THIS AND ALL OTHER OIL LAMPS, LIGHTED CANDLES AND SIMILAR DEVICES AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND ANIMALS.

Each Copper Light reservoir has a fuel capacity of approximately 3 ounces and should burn for about 20 hours.
